Personal Coaching Approach:

When you hire an Inner Power coach for personal coaching, we support you in DISCOVERING your unique inner strengths, CREATING new possibilities for business and life (where none seemed to exist), and reaching the peak of your personal LEADERSHIP.

At each stage, new mindsets, skillsets and energetics of personal leadership are called for. Our approach to coaching helps you develop these capabilities and integrates practices and tools from cultures around the world.

When we decide to form a coaching partnership, the next step is an in-depth "discovery session", which usually lasts 1.5 - 2 hours. We'll identify your core personal/professional goals, review results from various assessment tools and then develop a results-oriented strategy and partnership designed to transform your vision into action!

Executive Coaching Approach:

Executive coaching is a highly individualized professional development process that encourages you to look at yourself through a different lens, and take actions to drive higher levels of leadership impact and organizational results. When you work with an IPI coach for executive coaching, we will move through a process of discovery, goal-setting, and strategic action together.

Depending on the purpose of the executive coaching, the basic process is as follows:

1) Data Gathering and initial Contracting among relevant parties

  • This is about setting ourselves up for success. What is the need, and how do you and the organization see that executive coaching can help?

2) Assessment and Feedback

  • Can include informal 360 degree feedback interviews with your boss, peers, and direct reports or a more formal 360 degree feedback assessment process. We are certified in PDI's Profilor® and CCL's Benchmarks®. Or you may choose to use your organization's 360 tool.
  • Will also include one or more of the following assessments:
    • Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI)
    • DiSC® Behavioral Styles Indicator
    • Change Cycle Locator®
    • Cultural Orientations Indicator®
  • Another powerful approach that can be leveraged in the Assessment Phase is "shadowing" the executive. This entails spending 1-1.5 days with the executive in his/her daily life on the job, observing the leader in action. This approach allows the coach to see how the leader perceives the organizational and team dynamics, how he/she presents him/herself, gains commitment and influences others. Real-time observation and feedback of leadership behavior and impact linked to actual business events can have a profound impact on the leader being coached, allowing him/her to see the self in a clear, fact-based, manner, and identify clear coaching priorities.
  • The outcome of the assessment phase is a comprehensive feedback session where we review and interpret the assessment data with you to help you make sense of and assimilate the information.

3) Planning

  • After gathering all the relevant data and results from the assessment tools, we are ready to design a personalized strength and development action plan. We look for ways to build on your strengths (often overlooked in many coaching approaches), minimize weaknesses, and highlight factors that could lead to derailment.
  • We prioritize areas of development and map out a coaching plan together.
  • We complete a development plan with you and review the plan with your boss or HR staff, if necessary.

4) Strategic Action Coaching

  • Now we help you get into strategic action around the most critical areas of development, building strong momentum.
  • As part of this process, we encourage all clients to respond to their stakeholders, sharing what they are working on, and openly soliciting additional feedback.
  • We will also develop an ongoing follow-up process with key stakeholders. On a regular basis, solicit feedback -- i.e. "Based upon my behavior last month, what ideas do you have for me next month?" Keeps the focus on the future.
  • Other components that are included in this phase are:
    • Unlimited e-mail support between sessions
    • Lightning coaching" calls of 5-10 minutes before or after a major meeting, presentation or negotiation.
    • Role playing, as needed, to develop new mindsets, skillsets and leadership energetics.
    • Shared resources, articles, tip sheets
    • Editing of communications for impact or leadership presence
    • Update meeting with your boss or HR staff, if necessary.

5) Evaluation and Follow-Up

  • As we wrap up the coaching relationship, we evaluate results together, and we follow up with key stakeholders to measure success.
  • We also schedule one follow-up meeting 6 months after the completion of a coaching relationship, which includes the creation of a "maintenance plan" to help you, your boss and other stakeholders be aware of roles each plays in maintaining the progress made and furthering the success.
